Mod Prompts
Feeling burnt out? Need some inspiration? Want to create but no idea what? Why not spend a few minutes contemplating the weekly modding prompt? :)
A Very SMALL Mod
What is a very small mod you'd like to see exist? A mod so simple it would usually be an afterthought or bundled in something much larger?
Example: Overgrown Mailbox does one thing and one thing only: covers your mailbox with pretty flowers.
Just One Building
If you could add one and only one building to Pelican Town (not the farm), what building would you add? What would be in it? Would it be very small, or have many rooms and/or floors? Would NPCs visit and/or live there?
Example: The Stray Catfe adds a cafe, naturally enough.
Furniture
Unless you're really into decorating, you probably don't think much about furniture. Furthermore, Custom Furniture can be a bit tricky, so even an artist who might otherwise give it a spin might focus on craftables instead. But what if you could easily make any furniture? What would you make? Would the player buy it from Robin or someone/somewhere else?
Example: Pokemon RSE Secret Base Stuff for Custom Furniture , which contains a truly astounding number of "secret base" items.
Fall
It's nearly fall in the northern hemisphere and the pumpkin spice onslaught is already here along with aisles of Halloween decorations. What mod would you make that would affect just the fall season in Stardew Valley? A beautiful recolor? Pumpkin spice lattes available at the saloon? A new fish exclusive to the season?
Example: Spirit of Fall UI turns the UI orange and adds a few spooky decorations.
Jellyfish
That's right, jellyfish. What mod would you make with everyone's favorite sea blob? A set of new fish to catch? A peanut butter and jellyfish recipe? How about a fully fleshed out jellyfish NPC?
Example: for some reason there aren't a lot of mods dedicated to jellyfish :(. More New Fish does allow you to catch one in a crabpot, however.
Festivals
If you could add a new festival to the game, what would it involve? Would it be a grand affair involving people from across Ferngill, or a small cosy event? Would it be serious or silly? Something steeped in tradition or something being held for the first time ever?
Example: Surfing Festival adds a festival in summer with a new surfing minigame.
Jobs
Naturally Stardew Valley is filled with farmers and other agriculture-associated folks taking advantage of the fertile soil and excellent growing conditions, but a town can't run on farmers alone. So what job do you think is missing?
Examples: Custom NPCs have added everything from scientists and professors to barbers and mail carriers! What's next?
Holiday Time
If you were going to make a mod for a winter holiday (Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Eid, Winter Solstice, Festivus, whatever), what would you make? Would you replace the Winterstar Festival in-game or add on to it? Would your mod decorate the town, create a conversation topic for every NPC to give the player greetings, involve a bunch of tasty holiday treats?
Make your own junimo
If you were to make your own junimo (a la Kiwi, Peaches, Apples, Olive), what would it be? Would it take after a fruit/food? What would its personality be like?
Bonus points if you draw a picture of your junimo to share with the class. You may also choose to create a "junimosona," which is you if you were a junimo.
Aesthetic
"Who needs functionality when you can look good? Describe something completely useless but absolutely fanTABULOUS that you would add to SDV!
As an example, I'm [Hippo] a sucker for electronic objects in place of heads on a body, boom boxes, TVs, walkie talkies, so I would make an accessory that just completely covers the farmer's face. Become a walking and bopping boombox"
Aussie or Kiwi flare (Australia or New Zealand)
SH's Wild Animals includes platypuses (platypi?) and if you weren't aware, there are literally just two of the duckbilled critters outside of Australia. That means that Pelican Town is either located Down Under or else San Diego, California. So let's run with that concept! What kind of mod would you make to give SDV some Aussie or Kiwi flare
Perhaps you'd move Christmas the Feast of the Winterstar to summer and feature Gus cooking shrimp on the barbie or add tourists convinced everyone must just love Lord of the Rings and oooh, was it filmed on that mountain right there?
An "adult" aspect
On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: three French hens a controversial mod prompt! Let's set aside that SDV is a "family" game (as that is commonly understood by marketing). If you were to add one "adult" aspect, what would you add?
For example, ARV has Sterling dealing with addiction and suicidal thoughts, and SVE adds things like eating disorders or assault. And you can even install a mod to add taxes to the game!
Kid Stuff
What kind of mod would you make to make SDV more child friendly? Kedi, for example, released a pack of child furniture. Or perhaps you'd simplify a mechanic? Give the kids more focus in the story? Muppet-Babies the whole town?
Goofy / Silly Joke Mod Ideas
If you were tasked with creating 1 whacky mod, what would it be?
For example, retexture the villagers like Strawdew Valley, where everyone is a straw except the Wizard (he's a drink)? Give an unsuspecting friend a headache with Please Fix Error, which spams fake errors in the console? Maybe turn NPCs into plants using People Seeds?
Out of Pelican Town
Space has made a mod that goes to the moon. The literal SDV moon. Let's say your mod left Pelican Town. Where would it take place?
Romance
In the spirit of Valentine's: romance! What aspect of the romance / marriage mechanic would you change, and why?
No visible hearts, no bouquets, and no pendants: it's challenge mode and you have to rely on dialog and events, making the right choices to make the NPC lurve you? Voice acted flirty dialog? All the marriage candidates have animated portraits to wink at you when they like you?
Family and Friendship
What mod would you make to expand on the family and friend dynamics, vanilla or custom NPCs?
More friend hangs, maybe go shopping with the SebAbbySam trio for Solarion Chronicles supplies? The aerobics class hits the saloon afterwards for some hydration (could it be Galentine's Day)? Shane records videos with Jas and Marnie for fun rather than a contest?

April Fools
Now that's it's March (how????) April Fool's Day is just around the corner! So your prompt is: what's a mod you would make to play a joke? Either on the player or the NPCs? Examples: Secret Romantic Letter inserts a letter and conversation topic into the game In Ridgeside Village, a troublesome tyke causes the player to smell a little different from usual....
Competition / Contest
What competition/contest mod would you add to the game? Examples: A little-known aspect of the animal husbandry mod is animal contests, which Vincent never seems to win and Lewis is very biased in favor of Marnie... Lemur has a mod randomizing the winner of the egg hunt if you don't win.
Earth Day
With Earth Day just around the corner, what are some ways you would incorporate nature and/or the environment in a mod? Earth Day festival in spring might be an obvious one. Dialog and visual changes about recycling and conversation? A ~Lorax~ mod?
Clumps
A little one: clumps! Ignore for a moment the framework and just think about cool clumps of things found in the mines. What would you make?
Custom NPC / Character
If you could add any character to Stardew Valley, what sort of character would you add? What would they be like? A sensitive artist, an adventurer, a supervillain? The world is your oyster!
Mother's Day
American Mother's Day is coming up, and there's also a meme going around about asking your mom figure what she'd do if you were a bug. So, what mod would you make involving moms/mom figures, bugs, or both?
Quest / Special Order
If you were going to add a quest or special order, what would it be?
A mysterious bout of vandalism on doors throughout the town in which the player discovers who is at fault? A special order series in which all the villagers request birthday gifts be delivered to each other? Or a branching storyline with multiple endings on what Pierre's stash really is, with lots of gossip involved?
Pride Month
Pride month approaches! In the spirit of Rainbow Capitalism (feel free to Google that kids), what mod would you make featuring any of the following?
1. Rainbows
2. Prismatic anything
3. Black and white
4. NPC stuff related to pride (for example, a conversation topic where NPCs debate the merits of rainbow capitalism and also Haley gets a cute outfit)
5. COLORS
Custom Buildings
Now that PeacefulEnd 's new Solid Foundations mod is out, it's a great time for a prompt about buildings! What building would you make to place on the farm?
