Here are my mod recommendations, sorted categorically

Frameworks

  • Fashion Sense
    • Fashion Sense is a framework that lets modders add a variety of different hairstyles, outfits, accessories, sleeves, and shoes, far beyond what vanilla supports on its own. I highly recommend it over any other clothing framework.
    • If you're comfortable with a little bit of programming, you might be able to utilize the script I made that converts CP hair packs and JA shirt and hat packs into FS packs. The script and its instructions can be found here. (Note: It utilizes node.js to run)
  • Alternative Textures
    • Ever felt conflicted about which CP replacement mod to pick? Feel conflicted no longer! Now you can have all the options, all the time! This mod allows you to pick which texture you want for a specific item by left clicking on it with its included tools: the paint bucket for objects and the scissors for living entities (don’t think too hard about the implications of that last one.)
  • Solid Foundations
    • This is a relatively new framework that allows mod authors to add new types of buildings to Robin's construction menu or the Wizard's menu, but it has a lot of potential! It's a much cleaner way of adding new buildings, using functionality backported from the upcoming Stardew 1.6 update.

Hats

  • [JA + CP] Seasonal Hats (choose the Automatic Seasonal Hats download)
    • This mod adds a few hats via Json Assets, which dynamically change based on the season utilizing Content Patcher! The two work together really well; plus the hats are just neat!
    • Includes 4 types of seasonal hats: Mossy Flower Crown Elk Antlers, Flower Crown, Unicorn Flower Crown, and Deer Antler. Pictures can be found on the mod page linked above!
  • [JA] Seasonal Hats
    • This mod adds a few hats that make canonical sense to shift with the seasons, such as more straw hats for warm weather, and beanies for colder weather.
  • [CP] Wanderer's Mushroom Hat
    • While this is a replacement mod, I personally converted it to a JA hat instead and let it cutely sit in my dresser, ready for me to embrace my inner mushchild.
  • [FS] Season Of The Witch
    • This is what is sounds like, a Fashion Sense hats pack with a bunch of witchy hats!
  • [FS] Winter Solstice Hats
    • Celebrate the winter season with these festive hats!

The following are either found in CP or JA format, but I personally use them as a FS pack to keep my total number of JA objects low in my save files. Also it's just easier, using Fashion Sense, since you can preview without having to buy or craft a bunch of different hats/shirts/etc.

  • [CP] Coii's All Hats Pack
  • [JA] Delotti's Hats Set (naver link)
    • I recommend opening this in Google Chrome, and then refreshing the page, so that Google Chrome will automatically translate the page from Korean to English (or whichever language you prefer). After all, machine translation is better than no translation at all!
  • [JA] IYAHO's 58 Hats (naver link)
  • Kawaii Hats (original xnb mod) (JA conversion)
    • Includes a wide variety of hats, including gas masks, flower crowns, and a doge head.
  • [JA] Kyuya's Hats Pack
  • [JA/CP] Ragnarok Online Hats
    • Includes a wide variety of hats, including a shark hat and an angry paper bag over your head.
  • [JA] Witchy Hats

Hair

I used to use GetGlam for adding hairstyles to my game, but recently that has started causing issues, so I used my script to convert all hairstyle mods into Fashion Sense packs. I recommend you do the same :)

Side note: I still use GetGlam for shoes because I haven't figured out how to convert shoes to Fashion Sense yet :(
