A modlist of shinies, dropped by a feather as she floated by in the wind. Welcome! This list is an expansive, though not exhaustive, collection of mods I love.

Intro Notes

This modlist does not contain the frameworks and tilesheets required by content packs included here. Always check a mod's requirements when you download them! Please make sure you read the descriptions of mods before you download them - they often answer questions you may have about compatibility with other mods, known issues, and generally contain important information. I am not responsible if you don't check dependencies and descriptions carefully and break something.

I highly recommend downloading Generic Mod Config Menu to make editing configs easier.

Artisan Goods, Cooking and Crafting

This section features a laundry list of mods that add artisan goods and machines to produce them, mods that add food to cook, custom animals, and mods that add the ability to craft other stuff.

  1. Artisanal Soda Makers adds machines to produce colas, cream sodas, sodas, and syrups. Get your soda empire started today!
  2. Baker's Life Continued adds lots of baked goods for you to make!
  3. Baubles allows you to become the toy and trinket maker of your dreams!
  4. Champagne Wishes adds the champagne grape, drinks, and food!
  5. The Cornucopia Suite - the successor to the PPJA suite of mods, which is split into modules:

    4. Growable Forage and Crop Bushes adds new crops to grow some vanilla forage, and turns some crops into bushes.
  6. Everlasting Flowers allows you to make mystical everlasting flowers - flowers in crystal domes that never die. It also has a fun intro quest to unlock the machine needed to make them.
  7. Flower Sodas for Artisanal Soda Makers adds the ability to turn a wide range of flowers into floral sodas, relying on Artisanal Soda Makers!
  8. Forest Amber adds a new machine and a ton of new artisan goods to craft from tree sap.
  9. Kimchi Maker Continued adds the means to make farm-fresh kimchi!
  10. Kinder Chickens and Gacha Eggs adds Kinder Joy inspired chickens that lay eggs that have a random chance of goodies!
  11. Lumisteria Serene Meadow adds lots of flowers and crops to grow!
  12. Mizu's Quail adds quails for you to raise on your farm.
  13. Mizu's Turkey adds turkeys for you to raise on your farm.
  14. Peachery Kitchen adds peach-themed foods to cook!

  21. Vanilla Forage Crops and Bushes adds onto Growable Forage and Crop Bushes with even more crops and bushes to grow Vanilla forage and mushrooms.
  22. Ridgeside Forage Crops and Bushes adds crops and fruit trees to grow the forage of Ridgeside Village.
  23. Wildflour Atelier Goods is a truly massive mod adding tons of artisan goods, machines, and things to cook.
  24. Vyranity's Mods Mega Pack is a massive mod adding lots of jams, pies, and breads to make!

Expansions

I know people don't agree on what exactly constitutes an expansion, but I'm chucking all my custom NPCs, mods that add new shops and special orders, mods that otherwise expand upon vanilla NPC stories and events, and custom area mods into this section.

  1. Alchemistry is an alchemy-themed expansion with a new NPC, quests, a ton of new crops and forage, alchemy items, and more.
  2. Alecto the Witch turns the elusive ex-wife of Rasmodius into a fully-fleshed out NPC!
  3. Central Station adds a central railway station with connecting transport services to other expansion areas.
    1. More Content for Central Station adds more tourists and books to the station, expanding its lore.
  4. Emily the Mixologist gives Emily a shop in the Saloon to let her sell drinks added by HxW Mixologist, along with new special orders!
  5. Feast of the Sun revamps the Luau into a unique festival!
  6. Ferngill Fashion Festival adds new events, a brand new fashion show festival, and special orders.
  7. Food Gal adds a shop in the forest with food and recipes to buy!
  8. Harvey Attends Aerobics makes Harvey a member of the aerobics club, and tweaks one of his events to reflect that!
  9. Immersive Characters - Shane revamps Shane's story, exploring his character arc and adjusting his events!
  10. Immersive Saloon adds more dialogue to characters when they're in the saloon, to keep things fresh.
  11. Jorts and Jean adds two very special, union-supporting talking cats to befriend.
  12. Less Greedy Pierre adjusts Pierre's Prime Produce event reward to make him less foolishly greedy.
  13. Lumisteria Visit Mount Vapius - Visit Glimsap, befriend NPCs, and discover what the mountain has to offer.
  14. Mouse Friends in the Forest adds new mouse friends to meet in the forest once you've received Hat Mouse's letter.
  15. Nature in the Valley adds a new NPC, Ivy, and a huge collection of creatures to catch and donate to her insectarium.
  16. Ornithologist's Guild adds a new NPC, new place to visit, and lots of birds to spot and feed.

  17. Ridgeside Village is a massive expansion adding lots of new NPCs to befriend, places to see, quests, festivals and a lot more.

  18. Solstice Winter Star turns the Feast of the Winter Star into a more unique festival.
  19. Stardew Aquarium adds a new aquarium to donate fish to, with new shops and places to visit.
  20. Sunberry Village is a cozy expansion adding a new village to visit, mines and woods to explore, and a lot of new NPCs! It also has a few NPCs available as add-ons:
    1. Always Raining in the Valley adds Henry, Mia and Sterling, their stories, and a number of recipes!
    2. Dao is a volunteer firefighter and translator, who settled down in Sunberry for a change of pace.
    3. Jonghyuk and Spanner adds two new characters to befriend, new locations, minigames, and more.
    4. Lani is ready to befriend, and brings with her new items, quests, and more.
    5. Ripley the Farmer adds a larger-than-life, caring farmer to Sunberry, ready for you to get to know her better.
    6. Rose and the Alchemist adds Rose, the brother of the Hat Mouse, and Wildflour the Alchemist, new forage and animal familiars, and more!
    7. Wren the Plumber adds a new NPC to Sunberry with new events to get to know her better!
  21. The Museum Collection Explained expands the museum introduction event to actually provide a satisfactory explanation for why the building is so devoid of shinies.

Farm Buildings

Get your hard hat on, this section contains farm building replacements and new construction options!

  1. Elle's Seasonal Buildings are an oldie but a goodie, and I keep coming back to them! These come in a bunch of colour options and match the vanilla vibe well, so they also go well with the new buildings in this list.
  2. HxW Custom Buildings is a mega pack of Wildflour and HimeTart's new farm buildings and shed upgrades. Use the config to disable whatever you don't want, or optionally have the interiors be applied to your slime hutch instead.
  3. Italian Countryside Buildings is a newer farm building replacement I found utterly charming. These can be used with other farm mods if you use the Alternative Textures version or use the Content Patcher Version and pay attention to the config.
  4. Molamole's Seasonal Mailbox adds 9 incredibly charming retextures for your mailbox, and a variety of colours to make sure they don't look out of place with your farm buildings.
  5. Molamole's Seasonal Shipping Bin adds 6 different retexture styles for your shipping bin in 5 different colours! They match Molamole's mailbox very well.
  6. Romantic Ranch Buildings pairs nicely with the Italian Countryside Buildings and is available for Alternative Textures or Content Patcher.

Farmhouse and Farm Building Layout

Farmhouse Replacement

I like to change things up in my farmhouse, using custom farmhouses and add-ons!

  1. Kisaa's Cozy Rustic Farmhouse adds lots of room to decorate, and has a starter layout with a kitchen if you want.
  2. Everroot Cottage adds a charming, cozy home layout, with a nook for a cauldron if your farmer has alchemical leanings.

Farm Building Replacements

  1. Kisaa's Cozy Rustic Cellar changes the cellar to have a cozy vibe, with more space and decor.
  2. Kisaa's Cozy Rustic Greenhouse changes the greenhouse to have plenty of room, fountains, and a cozy feel.

PIF Rooms

PIF adds the ability to add rooms to your farmhouse and other buildings. I like to use these PIF mods on my farms:

  1. Door Mania adds a whole selection of doors to use with your PIF rooms.
  2. H&W Cozy Outdoor Dining Area adds a gorgeous outdoor area to decorate and farm in.
  3. H&W Small Business Kitchen adds a little kitchen, perfect for all your artisan machines.
  4. Kisaa's Extra Floors Pack goes the extra mile and adds whole new floors for your farmhouse - even more room to decorate!
  5. Kisaa's More Hatches and Ladders adds ladders and hatches as doors to use for your PIF rooms.
  6. Kisaa's Tiny Rooms Pack adds a few small, cute rooms to decorate!

Farm Maps

The farm maps in this section are either replacements for the vanilla farms, or add a new farm for you to choose! Regardless of whether you want a small, cozy farm or a sprawling homestead, there's something in here for everyone!

  1. Azure Springs Farm features verdant isles, a network of waterways, and is perfect for people who like fishing or who just want a challenge in terms of farming space.
  2. Blossom Crest Farm is a hilly, spacious farm with gorgeous backdrops and ample room to decorate and farm.
  3. Cliffside Cove Farm combines hilly elements with a beach, with a secret cove to explore!
  4. Loafy's Little Garden Farm is a compact, cozy space. Perfect for a no-stress run!
  5. Mystwood Homestead is a stunning, sprawling map with progression! Complete custom bundles to discover what this map has to offer.
  6. Secret Grove Farm is a small, cozy map with lush trees, a custom starter farmhouse layout, and a custom farm cave. Pay attention to the config if you want to use another farm cave mod.
  7. Tiny Garden Farm is a replacement map for the vanilla farms - you can choose which farm to replace through the config.
  8. Wildflower Acres Farm is a large, flowery map, but beware! Monsters lurk in the woodlands beyond your private lake.

Farm Caves

In addition to the farm maps listed here, I also highly recommend adding a custom farm cave to give your farm cave a refresh. Note that some farm maps add a custom farm cave too, so be sure to disable the farm's cave edit when not in use.

  1. Kisaa's Farm Cave Pack features 5 farm caves with different aesthetics and use-cases.
  2. More Lively Farm Cave is a charming take on the vanilla farm cave, expanding it and adding a hot spring that you can fish in!

Furniture and Home Decor

This section contains a mix of Alternative Textures (AT) and Content Patcher (CP) furniture mods. Use all of them at once for a huge variety of options while decorating, or be more selective and get a cohesive theme going.

  1. Baking Lovers Decor adds adorable furniture that's perfect to use to arrange a bakery-themed room.
  2. Cabinets, Cupboards and Closets allows you to retexture some vanilla furniture items into the 3 Cs of storage using AT.
  3. Catalogue for Cute Cottagecore Furniture by Luny adds Luny's cottagecore furniture as CP items, available through their own catalogue!
  4. Connecting Bookshelves uses AT to add bookshelf textures that link together to form long bookshelves.
  5. Cozy Chocolate Furniture adds furniture in lovely brown tones via CP.

Quality of Life

This section contains some essentials I use on every save, regardless of what vibe I'm going for on my farm. They significantly improve my playing experience.

  1. Anything Anywhere allows you to put whatever you want anywhere.
  2. Better Beehouses makes beehouses more useful, especially if you use mods that add crops to be grown in winter. It allows you to produce honey in winter and indoors, and adds the ability to use trees, bushes and potted plants to produce honey, among other beekeeping tweaks.
  3. Better Crafting completely overhauls the crafting interface to make it easier to use, especially when you have lots of modded items (like I usually do.) It adds item categories and bulk crafting. It affects both the crafting and cooking menu, but is fully configurable.
  4. Better Honey Mead makes flavoured honey produce flavoured meads, and adjusts the prices of mead accordingly. It's a simple change, but makes beekeeping more profitable.
  5. Carry Chests does exactly what it says on the tin. Pick up chests that have items in them already and move them with ease!
  6. Compact Searchable Shop Menu makes shop menus easier to navigate, with grid layouts, a search box, tabs to categorise items, and configs to change how many items you want to purchase at once when buying in bulk.
  7. Deluxe Journal is a nifty redo of the quests menu, adding a tab for you to make a to-do list.
  8. Fertilizer Bubbles shows you hoed dirt that hasn't been fertilised yet.
  9. Fresh Farm Produce adjusts the sale price of high-quality crops and other produce, and adds a competition to reward farmers that ship a wide variety of quality produce! This mod does a great job of keeping farming fresh in the late-game.
  10. Grass Growth allows long grass to grow anywhere, which is handy when you don't have a lot of land you can grow stuff on.
  11. Happy Home Designer is a must have for the dedicated interior designer - it adds a custom menu that stays open on your screen while you decorate, allowing you to place furniture and other decor with ease.
  12. Hat Mouse and Friends is technically strictly a cosmetic change, adding a rotating selection of mouse friends to run the Hat Mouse shop, but it improves my quality of life in the game, okay?
  13. Hats Won't Mess Up Hair keeps hats from changing how your hair looks.
  14. Informant adds labels telling you about your crops and machines, what needs to be donated to the community centre or museum, and also has friendship indicators for your animals.
  15. Like a Duck to Water increases the chance that your ducks will swim in the water bodies on your farm, and makes them like you better if they're able to swim.
  16. Livestock Bazaar revamps the animal purchase menu - while this is extremely useful for custom animals, it's very handy even if you don't have any custom animals. It lets you choose what skin you want for your animal if available, decide which building to put them in, and what to name them, all on one page.
  17. Machine Progression System adds upgrades to farm machines, giving you production bonuses.
  18. Multiple Mini Obelisks allows you to have more than 2 mini obelisks at the same time, and allows you to give them a name.
  19. Moon Cycle is a simple, immersive change to the moon on the shipping profit screen, making it be visible always.
  20. No Fence Decay Redux keeps your fences from decaying. Handy if you're like me and hate rebuilding them.
  21. No More Floor Fish prevents the farmer from throwing Jodi's requested fish on the floor when they deliver it.
  22. No More Pile of Bugmeat changes Willy's eldritch horror bug meat heap into a more civilised bucket of bugmeat.
  23. Precise Furniture gives you the ability to move furniture pixel-by-pixel, for the perfect home layout.
  24. Range Highlight allows you to see the range of your scarecrows, beehouses, sprinklers, and more.
  25. Smart Building adds a building mode that makes decorating much easier!
  26. Stardew Notifications adds little reminders about your produce, harvests, and events.
  27. Toolbar Icons adds a little hot-bar above your inventory with buttons to open the menus of various mods you have installed.
  28. Vanilla Professions Plus comprehensively overhauls the professions system without removing vanilla professions. It adds new professions to choose from at levels 15 and 20, and adds a new talent system with skill trees.
  29. Wall Decorations improves your ability to hang things on your farmhouse walls.
  30. Weather Wonders changes up the weather system, keeping things vanilla-friendly.

Retextures - Animals, Interface, World, Items, and More!

This Section features retextures that didn't quite fit into the other categories.

  1. Cottagecore Bicycles turns your horse into a bicycle! Best paired with No Reins For Me.
  2. Diverse Stardew Valley, which completely overhauls NPC portraits to add more cultural diversity to the game!
  3. Elle's Animal Retextures:

  7. Nightshade, which allows you to change the colours of the game through a menu. It works with recolours, too!
  8. Nyapu's Portraits Inspired by Dong, which has support for tons of expansions too!
  9. Seasonal Display Background changes up the background of your farmer display in the inventory menu.
  10. Seasonal Wedding Arch, which turns the wedding arch into a gorgeous wooden one.
  11. Simple Foliage, which retextures the trees, bushes etc in the game.
  12. They Deserve it Too: Portraits for Vendors, which gives vendors unique portraits.
  13. The Vanilla Tweaks Suite, which retextures pretty much everything you can think of:

  14. Vibrant Pastoral Redrawn, which recolours most of the game's textures to a toned down, soft palette.
